Happy September! Fall weather means the return of leaves changing colors, trench coats, ankle booties, socks and of course comfort food. This past Sunday I got invited to Scopa Neighborhood Italian restaurant's first Festa del Raccolto (Fall Harvest Festival) . They hosted the event alongside their next door neighbor Lina's Italian Market and featured chefs fromBonterra Trattoria, Posto Pizzeria and Bar,Cibo Calgary, Parc Brasserie Calgary and Mill Street Brewpub CalgaryAll the amazing aromas enticed me to step out of my comfort zone and taste everything (that didn't have pork 🐷). Now I don't want to make you guys hungry by listing everything (or embarrass myself by showing how much I ate) so I'll stick to my favorites of the evening.
First of all, I will start by saying that everything that touched my lips was delicious. My favorite of the night that I had to go back for more was the pumpkin ravioli with a touch of cranberries. I can't put into words how good it was butI would categorize this as a light comfort food. What's a light comfort food? I just made that up but it's a feel good meal that won't have you feeling a sense of guilt or heaviness afterward.
After trying a number of amazing dishes I waddled on over to the wines. Am I the only one that gets excited seeing an empty glass with a full bottle of wine next to it? Maybe haha. I love trying new wines and sometimes think of myself as a wine connoisseur in training.
Chardonnay is my wine of choice. Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnayis Summer in a glass. Now ifyou're a red wine kind of gal I would recommend tryingthe Silver Palm Cabernet Sauvignon. I have to say I have never tried a softer red. This will be another staple in my kitchen this Fall.
I'm happy to share with you guys that you can purchase both these wines at any Co-op liquor store. Tweet me @tanishacherry or tag me on Instagram (@tanisha.cherry) and let me know if you love them too.
No great food event is complete without a scoop of Fiasco Gelato 🤗. The pineapple mango is my second favorite flavor. Sorry Salted Caramel stole my heart this Summer . 🙋🏾
If you're looking for new restaurants, make sure to try one or all of the ones I've listed above. Have you been to any of the mention restaurants already?? Tell me what you ate below.
Love you leave you 🍒
