Kendall & Kylie X Ardene

The Jenner sisters are back at it with the fashion but this time in collaborations with Ardene. When I first got word of this collections coming my mind started racing with all types of questions while trying to visualize what the collection would look like. I was wondering what style would they capture? Will it be more on the athletic side, girly, or very simple and form fitting? So you know the day the collection launched I made it my business to head to my nearest Ardene’s and get the scoop.

When I got there I was pleasantly surprised with all the different pieces and how much they catered to every style type. Honestly, there is a full outfit for each one of my personalities. I tried on a number of outfits but ended up walking out with an upgrade of my favorite Summer go to’s. The first look is a play on my everyday uniform of a white tee and ripped up jeans. I am wearing the Fine Knit Thong Bodysuit paired with the Soft Brushed Skinny Jeans and the White Patent Slides . My favorite item from his look is the skinny jeans. Having a booty and thick thighs can make jean shopping challenging. To be honest I wasn’t expecting to even get a pair of jeans but I am glad I tried them on because they fit like a dream while still being comfortable. The great thing about this look is you dress it up by switching out the slides for heels and adding a fitted blazer.

With this next look, I kept it simple in a comfortable Striped Culotte Jumpsuit. In the Summer you’ll find me wearing a lot of rompers and matching sets. They are the easiest looks to put together when you’re on the go. I was initially hesitant to pick up this jumpsuit because it stops mid-calf and I didn’t think I would be able to pull it off. But like the first look, I took a leap of faith and tried it on. As you can see she looks great on me. The high waistline and wide culotte pant helped camouflage my food baby.

Ardene’s Kendall & Kylie collection is available for a limited time. You can shop all my pieces and more at ardene.com using my code TANISHA<3KK for 15% off. Sound off in the comments and let me know which outfit is your favorite.

Aveeno Positvely Radiant Review

IMAGE.JPG

It’s still winter here in Calgary, which means my skin is still dry. I wanted to share with you guys some new products that I received and have been using the last couple of weeks. Aveeno Canada sent me their recently launched Positively Radiant body collection and to try out. The full set which includes an exfoliating body wash, body lotion, and target dark spot corrector body cream. Aveeno’s positively radiant was actually the first skincare line I used when I was in middle school. My impression of their products is that it's inexpensive and cleanses my skin without leaving it tight or dry. So I expected the same with the body line.

During colder drier months, my skincare focus is to achieve ultimate hydration. As a result, my shower routines have gotten a bit more extensive. But that’s okay because in the shower is where I come up with my best ideas. I start my showers by getting the water hot and steamy. Steam opens your sinuses, increases blood circulation, and can help release stress. After standing under the basking in how glorious the water feels on my skin, I grabbed the exfoliating body wash and got to work. Exfoliating body washes are always a plus because they cleanse + remove dead skin. I took my time massaging the Aveeno exfoliating body wash into every inch of my body. Especially my shin, ankles, and feet. Those are the driest areas of my body. Once I’ve given my body that TLCC, I washed it away and did it again haha. Wash twice, feel nice.

IMAGE.JPG

Once I got out the shower I dive into the rest of my face routine (tone + mask). While waiting for my mask to dry, I lotion the rest of my body. Before I applied lotion up I noticed that my skin didn’t feel dry. My skin usually feels thirsty when I delay moisturizing straight out the shower. I like that the Positively radiant body lotion is a non-greasy formula. I hate greasy lotions and the residue it leaves on my bed sheets. Not to mention it takes a while for them to dry down.

My thoughts the morning after were: my skin still feels smooths. Yay! The Aveeno Positively radiant collection also includes a target dark spot corrector body cream, that helps to remove the look of dark spots on your body and also contains SPF 15 UVA/UVB. You can buy the Aveeno Positively Radiant collection now at your local Shoppers Drug Mart.

Do you experience drier skin in the colder months? What do you use to keep your skin looking radiant?

My 2 Day Better Juice Cleanse

My Juice cleanse is over with. If you’ve been following along with Insta Stories this past Thursday and Friday, you’ll know I did a 2-day juice cleanse sponsored by Better Juice. This is my second juice cleanse ever, except with my first cold pressed juice cleanse it was 3 days. For those of you who think you could never do one. In the words of Ben Franklin ", you can do anything you set your mind to”. I juice cleanse to help jump start my fitness goals by weaning myself off all my bad food habit and for a complete mental reset. We are all creatures of habits and in order to create new ones, you have to change your frame of mind.

The last time I did a juice cleanse I was already 2 weeks into my vegan plant-based diet. Therefore I was working out regularly, drinking lots of water, not consuming alcohol, and eating lots of veggies. I was in the best frame of mind well on my way of creating new habits. Initially, I thought I hadn’t eased into the cleanse but I pretty much did without knowing it. As a result, I didn’t have any negative side effects.

IMG_7929.JPG

This time around my first day was a bit tougher. Day 1 consisted of me being super gassy, poopy, and experiencing headaches. TMI I know but I have to keep it real with you guys. My diet is not as great as it was last January and all these side effects confirmed that. When I got home from work, I drank a lot of water and went straight to bed at 8 pm. It was the only way I could silence my thoughts of hot wings and steak. By day 2 I woke rested, energized, and ready to seize my Friday. I started the morning with my lemon ginger shot and hot water. I made sure to drink water before and after each juice. This resulted in no gas, food daydreams or mood swings.

The Juices provided in my cleanse were :

 • Lemon Ginger Shot (added to warm water first thing when you wake up)
 • Tropical Paradise (green apple, pineapple, lemon, and mint)
 • Beet it (beet, carrot, apple, ginger, and lemon)
 • Queen Green ( kale, spinach, swiss chars, cucumber, celery, parsley, cilantro, lemon, ginger and jalapeno)
 • The Hulk (kale, celery, apple, lemon, and ginger)
 • Wonder Woman ( Watermelon, pineapple, coconut water, lime, and mint)
 • Popeye ( spinach, cucumber, apple, pear, and lemon)
IMG_7969.JPG

Doing a juice cleanse the second time around has provided me more insight on my advice for those of you interested in trying one.

 1. Should you do it? yes! if you don't like it after finishing then at least your tried and know you don't.
 2. Should you ease into it or jump right in? If you’re a meat eater gradually cut down on the amount of meat you are consuming leading up to your cleanse. I would recommend a week. Also, increase your water and veggie consumption leading up to it.
 3. When to do it? I still recommend doing it during the work week M-F =).

Better cold pressed juices can be purchased at The Calgary Farmers Market located at 510 77th Avenue SE all year-round Thursday through Sunday 9am - 5pm. Have you ever tried a juice cleanse? Comment on your experience. Can you guess which juice you think was my least favorite?

Fashion Week Luxe At The James Soho

My new year's resolution for 2018 is to take bigger leaps of faith. And I am completely tooting my own horn when I say, I am doing pretty well for it only being day 60. *toot tootThanks to a little nudge from friends, I packed my bags and jetted off to New York Fashion Week.

IMG_7286.JPG

Let me start out by sharing that this was my first time in New York ever! I was so stressed out about show invitations, how much money to bring, and packing that I started experiencing high anxiety leading up to my departure date and even during the first half of day one. I was putting an unbelievable amount of unnecessary pressure on myself. It was so bad that I woke up with a random nose bleed the day I was leaving. But everything started turning around as soon as I checked into The James New York Soho and was handed my room keys.

Speaking of keys, when walking up the main floor stairs towards the elevator I was greeted with a wall covered in keyboard keys! Every inch of this hotel is beautiful but this wall took feature wall to another level. At first glance, it looked like a textured 3D wall only to realize on second glance it's actually made out of something I am all too familiar with. As soon as I noticed that that I knew that I was in the right place.

IMG_7288.JPG
IMG_7293.JPG

Walking into my room the first thing I noticed was my gorgeous view of Manhattan. Just that quickly my plans for the day changed. Looking out my window I saw so many people moving around. It made me reflect on how much I haven't had any downtime back home and that I needed to take this time to myself to unplug and relax. The simple modern decor of my room reminded me how much furniture contributes to the energy of your space. While exploring ever inch of my room I felt a calming effect wash over me. So strongly that after some Chipotle and a steamy shower I fell asleep.

IMG_7294.JPG

The James New York Soho did a great job accommodating all my request like providing extra hangers, emptying my mini bar, and bringing up more water. Personal touches like hand written welcome notes from housekeeping stood out to me. Not to mention the complimentary coffee + scones in the morning, fresh fruit throughout the day, and wine + cheese in the evening. The scones and fresh fruit were a life saver when it came to snacking in between shows. I have never stayed at a hotel that offers anything like this. #TakeNotes

Since returning back home my oatmeal intake has increased from 0 to 3 times a week. Very random, I know! It's all because of the David Burke kitchen. Out of all the delicious brunch items I inhaled that morning, my favorite was the oatmeal. I normally don't like oatmeal but there was something about the way they made theirs that has me trying to recreate it every other day. They mastered not too thick + not too sweet + not too milky = just right!

IMG_6915.JPG

One of the features of the The James New York Soho I wish I checked out earlier was Jimmy's rooftop bar. In my mind, I visualized it as a small area with tables and chairs. I clearly forgot that I was in New York. When Nancy and I got up there we were shocked at how lit it was. This whole time I thought that I thought I would have to leave the hotel to experience New York nightlife when the whole time it was on the rooftop of our hotel. Just reminiscing about it has me thinking one more grilled pineapple mojito please!

New York Fashion week can be draining. Especially for your first time in New York because no matter how much you prepare you just don't know what to expect. Where you stay can make or break your whole experience. Kenny, Ron, David, and Jay were so awesome when it came to helping me navigate to shows, recommending places nearby to eat, or genuinely asking how my trip was coming along. I have stayed in a number of hotels and The James New York Soho is at the top of my list for decor, location, and most of all customer service. If you're ever visiting New York and staying in Manhattan, check out The James Soho.

Love you leave you 🍒

Cooler Weather + Cooler Coats

Some say living in a city that experiences all four season can be very expensive wardrobe but I would have to disagree. To me, Fall/Winter fashion is all about covering those transferable Spring/Summer pieces with a fabulous coat. When shopping for a coat, I am always looking for something that will pair well with a simple top x trousers x heels combination and at the same time can be paired with a fitted sweat suit x sneaker combination.

When I first saw this coat hung up I wasn't sure. But then I thought what would Rihanna do (WWRD). And myself responded 'Rock the sh*t out of it'. The Easy Coat is nothing like my other coats in terms of color, length, and material. But when I tried it on, I was singing another tune (wild thoughts to be exact). The texture adds a little edge while the color gives a feminine touch. I received so many compliments when I wore this coat to The Wednesday Room media launch a few weeks ag. It's honestly the perfect comfortable coat to wear when you are feeling a bit girly but not quite pink.

The Metallic Puffer Jacket was a no-brainer. Metalic puffers are on trend right now and to be honest I believe they are timeless. The art of coat selection is to stand out not blend in. The next time you walk into an establishment with either of these, make sure to decline coat check and mention 'it's a part of my outfit'

Both coats are from Bench Canada and are still available online and on sale! Initially, I thought I was going to purchase a logo hoodie and t-shirt. Imagine my surprise when I ended up leaving with two dope coats. Now I have to add them to my stalk list to see what they will come out with next.

Which jacket would you add to your Fall/Winter coat collection?

Shopping Canadian w. Local Boom

Being a Canadian consumer can be such a struggle. If it's not the cost of shipping & handling, unexpected custom cost, and/or the exchange rate it is “Sorry, shipping is not available to your location”. Which is when I found myself supporting more and more local brands. The most challenging part has been trying to find them. I recently came across Local Boom, who at the time I thought was just an online e-commerce site for Canadian entrepreneurs but was pleasantly surprised to find out they are so much more.

FullSizeRender.jpg

Local Boom is a powerful shopping movement that acts as a platform for Canadian entrepreneur to sell/promote their products, services, and events. Their mission focuses on empowering and supporting Canadians to ultimately create a “Boom” within our very own community.

Created in 2017 by, Founder and CEO, Steven Kieboom after realizing his true calling in empower others. I, myself resonate with his self discovery because that is ultimately my purpose with my platform. We are all different but what connects us is the similarities we do share. How much would a person flourish if they were supported by a network of individuals with whom they shared only positive similarities. To their full potential? I believe they would flourish beyond that because it would be continuous growth. And that's what Local Boom means to me.

Because of Local Boom, I found out about brands like EpicBlends Kasbah, You + Me candles, and Pep Soap co. I have been burning the amber and smoke candle from You + Me candles for the last two weeks. As well as using the Kasbah argan oil to moisturize my hair on wash days. I feel good about Local Boom because they do the brand research for me and they also donate part of their profits directly back into Canadian communities. So far they have donated 100 bars of soap to local women's and youth shelter in Downtown Vancouver and have also made a monetary donation to the Calgary Food Bank.

IMAGE.JPG

Steven welcomes all entrepreneurs with positive intentions behind their brand to connect with him to discuss joining the Local Boom family. The criteria is pretty straight forward, you need to be Canadian based and part of positive change within our communities across the country. You can contact local boom through their instagram and by email (info@localboom.ca). Shop now using coupon code "CHERRY" to get free shipping and a free gift.

Finding My Medium

If you have been following my Instastory adventures, you may have noticed that I have been sporting a new gorgeous piece of arm candy aka my new watch. I have not always been the biggest watch wearer but my style has been evolving. I find myself shying away from big statement pieces and reaching for more clean and minimalist accessories, like my Debut Black with Gold Mesh Medium Watch.

IMAGE.JPG

All their watches are beautiful but I decided on this over The Peak because the Miyota 2 Hand Movement is visually more glam to me than the 3 Hand Movement and the product description resonated with my purpose as a content creator.

“We designed the Debut to fit who you are and how you weave through this thing called life… consider The Debut your new vehicle for self-expression.”

I don’t see myself purchasing another watch because I’m trying to adapt to this blogger minimalist life. But in the event that I was, I would have to ask myself these 3 questions that Medium has answered successfully.

IMG_6990.JPG

Will it go with every outfit? I appreciate the flexibility of Medium watches without even having to change the straps. The design of this watch is the perfect medium no matter if I’m headed to the office for work, in sweats running errands, or dressed up going to an event. The fact that you can also change your straps is a major bonus.

Will the glass scratch or nah? This is so important to me because as mentioned before, I only have one other watch. I have had that watch for a few years and boy does she look like it. From a distance she shines in all her gold glory but when you see her up close and personal her flaws are clear as day. I haven’t owned my Medium watch as long but I trust that since the watch glass is made of Sapphire Crystal, I won’t have to worry. On the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, 10 being the highest resistance, Sapphire Crystal ranks 9 making it highly scratch resistant.

Where are they from? Medium is local to me, national to Canada, and comparable to all the other luxury watch brands in the world.

Thursday Night Eats at Cardinale

Last night’s Instastory adventures featured Liya and I at the media dinner for the new Italian joint Cardinale. With open minds and an empty stomach, we made our way to the Dafoe Building in Victoria Park not knowing what to expect. I always get a little nervous trying new restaurants because I’ve been told (once or twice) that I’m a picky eater. But all my worries disappeared as soon as I opened the door. I felt like I just walked into one of my family gatherings. The atmosphere was lively, Prosecco was flowing, and rich aromas wafted through the air. I felt right at home.

Here’s what we ate.

PANZANELLA - pagnotta toast, heirloom tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, capers, olives, cucumber

Not pictured is the delicious PANE (poppyseed and honey foccacia, single origin olive oil, rosemary butter) that looked too good to wait and take a picture of. Sorry guys! But I promise you that you will fall in love with it.

What a great evening of reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones. Thank you, Jared Kichula, for opening your doors to host us. This is definitely a must dine restaurant just in time for the Fall/Winter season. The contemporary Italian cuisine is delicious, the Italien wine selection is impressive and the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu.

In honor of Cardinale's opening, they are hosting an in-restaurant contest for a chance to win a TRIP to Italy for two now through January 17, 2018, with purchase. If any of you guys win, just know I will be more than happy to be your +1.

My Bye Bye Acne Skin Care Routine 👋🏾

Let's talk about skin baby! For the past 2-3 years my face has been going through it. I was holding off on skin care related post until my face started showing progress. And ladies let me tell you, in 2 short months my face has made a complete turn around. All thanks to Marie, at the Skin Science clinic, who since May has been helping me through this process. My first visit was a 1 hour consultation where she evaluated my face, identified the causes of my acne, reviewed my makeup/skin care products, edited the products in my routine and recommended future treatments.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to the success of my routine besides the products I use morning and night. Here are just a few 🙋🏾

 1. Clean everything that comes in contact with your face before every use. This includes your hands, makeup brush, and towels. They are all a breeding ground for germs and bacteria that you don't on there. I keep a stack of clean white hand towels in my bathroom solely to dry face. I toss them in the laundry after every use.
 2. Say deuces ✌🏾 to pore clogging products and ingredients such as primer (silicone), BB & CC creams, anything long lasting, Glycerin, and oil ( oil combating oil is a lieeee! ). Make sure to research the ingredients in your products because some ingredients have alternative names such as silicone (aka dimethicone). We oily skin gals are already prone to experiencing blockage in our pores so we do not need to add to that.
 3. Start steaming. Your products will absorb better with nice clean and opened pores. At night I precleanse, cleanse, and exfoliate in the shower to allow the steam to release everything my skin has absorbed throughout the day. Because I'm EXTRA I also use a facial steamer 2-3 times a week on nights I apply my face mask to create a relaxing at the spa kinda vibes.

Now that we got through the preliminaries here is my morning and night skin care routine:

Morning time

 • Light Steam with warm rag or hot shower
 • Cleanse - Skinsceuticals Blemish + Age Cleansing Gel
 • Tone - Clear Cell Salicylic Clarifying Tonic (this stuff is magic and it doesn't dry out my skin)
 • Treat - Lancôme Genefique serum
 • Moisturize/ Protect - PREVENTION+ Daily Matte Moisturizer SPF 32

Night Time Skincare Routine

Night Time

 • Pre cleanse - Purity 3 in 1 cleanser (Forget baby wipes this is my holy grail everything remover)
 • Cleanse - Skinsceuticals Blemish + Age Cleansing Gel
 • *Exfoliate - Rocky Mountain Soap co Vanilla Coconut Revitalizing Face Polish
 • *Steam - Dr. Dennis Gross Facial Steamer Solutions
 • *Face Mask - depends on what my skin needs that day
 • Tone - Apple Cidear Vinegar & Kangen beauty water mix (compliments the next product better than Clear Cell Salicylic Clarifying Tonic)
 • Treat - Tacupump (treatment prescribed by my physician)
 • *Sheet Mask - I follow up with one if I do a clay or clarifying mask
 • Moisturize - Image Clear Cell Mattifying Moisturizer for Oily Skin and Rocky Mountain Soap co Beech Tree Bud Eye Cream

*completed 2-3 times a week

This complete routine has made a huge difference in cleansing my pores, treating my inflammation, and preventing future pimples. I can't say these exact products will work for your needs but it worked for me. In my consultation Marie discussed with me the ingredients in my makeup and skin care products to educated me on how they affect my skin. Now I have a better understanding on how each products works and to pay attention to why purchasing new items. I'm so happy I took a leap of faith and put my complete trust in Marie. She has not failed me 🙂

Do you have a solid skin care routine? What's helped with your acne? What products have changed the game for you. Comment below!

Avocado Toast Recipe

I love avocados and I'm surprised it took me this long to try Avocado toast. Last week I finally made my own version. I kept it as simple as possible so that it can be done in the mornings quickly before work.

Ingredients

 • 1/2 organic avocado
 • 1 organic Rabbit River Farms vegetarian feed egg
 • 1 slice of organic Ezekiel 100% sprouted whole grain bread
 • a dash of Himalayan salt
 • a dash of black pepper
 • a dash of grace Jamaican pepper sauce
 • 1 tbsp organic grapeseed oil

First thing first!

1. Add a tablespoon of grapeseed oil to your nonstick frying pan. Heat the pan on medium. I have an induction stove so it heats up quick. If I'm not careful I can burn whatever's in my pan.

2. Toast your slice of bread

3. Crush up 1/2 avocado in a bowl. I like to leave it chunky so I just mash it 3 times. I didn't do this in the picture but I found my avocado kept sliding off my toast. The second time I made it I found it worked better applying it as a spread haha.

4. Crack your egg into a bowl to double check that it's good and then add it to the frying pan. Puncture the yolk so that it spreads. Once the egg white is cooked flip it over to ensure the yolk gets fully cooked. This style of eggs is what Jamaicans call fried egg but I learned not too long ago the more technical culinary term is over hard.

5. Time to layer. Toast, add the avocado spread, and add your fried egg on top. I wouldn't be me if I didn't sprinkle a bit of Grace pepper sauce to add a little heat.

Voila! Comment below with what you layer your avocado toast with.
